Marble meadows located in strathcona provincial park west of the approximate centre of buttle lake and high above the watersheds of the wolf and phillips rivers is the unique and wonderful marble meadows alpine plateau. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. The sky high lakes are marvelous but a short side hike leads to an even higher lake that may just be the best of the bunch.

The marble meadows trail extracts a heavy toll in the many switchbacks to get to the alpine zone but the rewards are stunning including alpine peaks geological interest and fossil deposits. The trail begins at buttle lake and climbs steeply through old growth forest before emerging out on to the ridge. If you re looking to head deeper into the backcountry this trail continues further west contouring around the multiple alpine lakes in this lofty area.

The marble mountains are part of the klamaths a biologically and geologically diverse range of peaks and ridges often overshadowed by its western neighbors in the cascades.
