It really just depended. We lapped the boards a minimum of two inches but three inches was more common. Covers 20sqft at 7 1 2 exposure. Box square foot is based at a 14 exposure.

Oak siding is in the middle and pine or doug fir is the most commonly used and the cheapest. Some are massive some are smaller all are remarkable. Available in multiple grades vertical and face grain with surfaces available in band sawn circle sawn and planed.

The costs can run you about 2 50 3 50 per square foot so if you did the math on an average sized three bedroom ranch style home and you re looking at approximately 18 000. We only use specially harvested wood found locally.
